Langfos is the only Organic Sedimentary Rock Phosphate mined in
South Africa.  Langfos was extensively mined from 1923 to 1994 and farmers who have used Langfos can still observe the positive effects it has had in their lands.  

In 2010 a new mine [Gecko Fert] was opened at Langebaanweg and is currently in operation and ready to place a firm footprint in the agricultural sector once again.
